1.    #1 Make Peace with your past, so it doesn’t affect your present

Nina Simone says, ‘Often you don't know how truly happy you were then until you look back and realize how much worse things could have been’. Most times, we allow the past rule our present, and refuse to move on. While ruminating and dwelling in the past, we refuse to see the doors that are opened. As long as the past is still here, the future will keep being a mirage. In order to break barriers, even though our past is not good enough, even though the heartbreaks are much, even though they are sad and dirty, we still have to let go and move on, so we can have peace.

2.    #2 What others think of you is not your business

Everyone around you has a particular opinion about you, however, their opinions should not define you. No matter how and what you do, you will always have friends and foes; lovers and haters. However, it is up to you how you handle them. Truly, the lantern doesn’t see itself, and need it’s reflection from others to know itself. Well, listen to every word from everyone, only pick the ones that are right. ‘Man is still the greatest miracle and the greatest problem on this earth’ – David Sarnoff.

3.    #3 Time heals almost everything

Everyone has a wound. In every journey of life, we have been hurt, whether by friends or family members. Many times we have run businesses and failed, we have believed in some people, trusted them and they still failed us, it hurts so much and looks like it is not going to heal, all it needs is time. Everything is going to end, we are just going to be fine, what is necessary is patience. We should learn to let go, so the past can remain where they belong, the past.

4.   #4 No one is responsible for your happiness, except yourself

According to Alexander Solzhenitsyn, ‘A man is happy so long as he chooses to be happy and nothing can stop him’. Nobody in this life owes you happiness. Even your parents and your blood or best friends owe you nothing. Immediately you feel indebted, then your disappointments have just started. Your only source of joy should be yourself. Once you hand over your joy to other people, you are going nowhere. It is better you take responsibility for your own life, than waiting for others, else, your waiting has no end.

5.    #5  Don’t compare your life with others

Every man has his own problem. Never ever compare your life with others, because you don’t know what their journey is all about. Our life troubles and worries are different, but everyone has got it. Immediately you find yourself getting envy of others’ successes, then you are prone to do dirty things that would put you in trouble. Let others enjoy their success, whether they work for it or not, it’s none of your business. Face your own life, that is all that matters.

6.    #6  Do not think too much

The only person without problem is the one in the grave; as long as one is alive, then one has problem. Problems have category, and the greatest problem is not with you. Shakespeare said, ‘I was crying I had no shoes, until I saw someone without leg’. Never ever think the life’s problem started and ended with you, yours is only tip of an iceberg in the comity of other people’s problems. Therefore, worry not about the problems befalling you. It is only a phase and it will pass. It has a beginning, and it would definitely have an end.

7.   #7 Always smile

Of course, this is difficult, especially when one is weakened with problems, but then, smiling is a form of encouragement. All the troubles of the world doesn’t belong to you. These problems cant take away your happiness and still take away your smile. Sometimes when you smile, it gives you a reason why you should never give up. It gives you hope and make you believe you are not alone in your problems. Just keep working hard, keep reaching out, never stop trying, life will eventually smile at you as well. Though it may take time, but you will overcome. People will still celebrate you, and peace will be your abode.
